To quote directly from Meta’s Data for Good site, the Relative Wealth Index predicts the relative standard of living within countries using privacy-protecting connectivity data, satellite imagery, and other novel data sources.
The map above presents the level of the standard of living nationwide in Cambodia. I have classified the index into seven classes ranging from the lowest number (poor standard of living) to the highest number (high standard of living). The dataset has a 2.4 km² resolution, meaning that each cell is 2.4 km × 2.4 km. I have added the economic corridor data, which I sourced from Open Development Cambodia, along with Cambodia Administrative Boundary Level 1 data from the Humanitarian Data Exchange.
It appears that people who live along the economic corridor have better living standards. Moreover, most of the wealth is concentrated in the municipal towns of each province, with the exception of some of the islands, which are prime tourist destinations.
